I’ve heard so many people throughout my life say that our God is a humorous God. He puts us in situations that can do nothing but make us laugh. Although I’ve grown up hearing people say that, and I know that logically He’s got to be humorous since he created everything. I would guess that humor would have to fit in the category of “everything”. I still never thought that the creator of the universe, the God who can give and take away in a heartbeat would also be a God of lightheartedness, laughter and humor. But now, after spending about a month in Peru, I can tell you that our God definitely is a God full of humor. However, this revelation of mine did not come about until three days ago, during the tail end of soccer practice with the most talented teenage boys I’ve ever met. As I was laying on the ground drenched in sweat, coated in dirt and trying my hardest not to throw up, after doing the most intense work out of my life. I realized that there was nothing else I could do in that moment but to lay there, panting and laughing to myself because God had taken me, someone who despises hot weather, someone who refused to take Spanish in high school, and someone who hates working out and playing sports and He put me in the middle of the South American jungle, during their summer, working alongside of a soccer ministry. What is so crazy about this is that I’m loving every second of it. That is the beauty of our hilarious, awesome, lighthearted and clever Savior.
